Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College -Courses

Brief history about Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College.

Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College was opened in the year 1972. The college began with one staff accommodation, a hostel and an administrative block. The college is located in the regional capital of the Bono Region, Sunyani off the Wenchi-Techiman road.

On the onset, Sunyani Nursing was faced with huge deficits in infrastructures. Students’ hostels had to be converted into quarters for the staff of the regional hospitals. This situation and many others prevented the institution from starting its operation in that very year.

The Sunyani Nursing Training had only one tutor which was Miss Georgina Sarm. Georgina Sarm was later joined by a colleague by name Mr. Forster Nyarko in the year 2005. The first batch of Sunyani Nursing Training were only 40, with 19 being females and 21 being males

But if we are talking about one of the leading Nursing and Midwifery Training schools in the Bono region, you can’t ignore Sunyani Nursing Training. It now holds ultra-modern facilities which facilitate teaching and learning.

The core responsibility of the Sunyani Nursing Training is to train Registered Nurses. With this mandate, it has over the years trained lots of nurses and other health personnel.
