NDC Wants To Destabilize My Government, I won’t Reshuffle My Ministers.
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo has finally broken his long delayed silence on the calls for him to reshuffle his minsters. The president has been chastised by some section of the public for what they believe is the failure on his part to reshuffle his ministers. But the First Gentleman of the land believes those who are chanting for the Ministerial reshuffling are looking for a way to destabilize his government.
The President who is currently on a working visit to the Northern region seems to have his spotlight on the main opposition party. According to him the NDC wants to destabilise his government and as a result calling for reshuffle of ministers.
Mr Addo Danquah publicly declares that his minsters have been so outstanding on their performance and there is no need to reshuffle them. That, every minister has contributed his/her quote to the successes chalked by the country and will not be of any importance to change or bring new crop of ministers.
He indicated that he is not going to bow to any pressure from some section or groups calling for reshuffling of his ministers. Could the assertions of the President be true that the opposition party is behind and it’s because they want to destabilise his government?
Reshuffling of ministers
In not more than two weeks, a group calling itself Alliance for Foot-Soldiers Association (AFA) of the NPP came out with modalities detailing why the President has to reshuffle his ministers. They even went on to point out which minister should be reshuffled and who should be brought in.
This would be quite ironic to hear the President say those who are calling for reshuffle want to destabilise his government, since a unit the NPP party has also declared their support for the calls to get the ministers reshuffled.
Regardless, President Akuffo Addo says he has no intention to reshuffle appointees in his government because they are doing well.
Below are few of his comments on the matter
“I’m not disputing that there is quite a lot of attention here, but I also think that there is the need for us to have rather a holistic look at the matters relating to reshuffling of ministers.”
“The issue of reshuffle or performance of my ministers is a daily pre – occupation, I’m required on daily basis to ask myself whether a particular minister is up to the mark
“I’m the final authority and if they are not up to the mark, I’m required to act. So if they are up to expectations then I don’t have any reason to heed to calls for reshuffling”,
“…NDC wants to destabilize my government, there are people who are also looking for jobs”, he said
These statements by the President shows that the ministers are performing to the mark as it indicated by him and which is why he sees no reason to reshuffle them. And that should he find the need to do that, of course subject to his assessment he will not fail to act accordingly.
But for now, the issue of reshuffling of ministers is not the key issue on the table.
