We’ll search your armpits, pants and hijabs- GES to BECE Candidates on the BECE Examination

From the experiences learnt from previous BECE examination across the country, GES is determined this time to keep the sanity of the exams. As a result, candidate who will be writing this year’s exams are going to be strictly searched.

All parts which are considered to be the hideouts for foreign materials will be searched. They are going to search hijabs, armpits and pants of candidates who are writing this year’s BECE examination.

According to the Ghana Education Service, surveillance team will be on grounds to monitor all events. This will be from the start of the BECE examination to the end. All in a bit to ensure transparency in the forthcoming exams

It should be noted that, this information is peculiar to the Effia Kwesimintim Municipality. From the Education Director of the Municipality, Kate Biney, they’re taking this action to reduce the chances of malpractices that characterized the BECE examination.

These were made known when she was speaking to Starfm.com.gh. She said, invigilators have been given the necessary training by the WAEC. All hotspots candidates have been putting their foreign materials, included are the use of the Hijabs, under belts, pants, hairs, and they will be strictly searched.

We will feel the hijabs if it contains any material aside their hair. We know Muslims ladies do not expose their hair so we will not remove it but when we are suspicious we will ask you to remove it and shake it and wear it again and proceed.

She further reiterated that, these very measures are being put in place due to what happened in the WASSCE examination. According to WAEC, some candidate went to the extent of putting foreign materials in their sanitary pads – she said.
