Institute Pricing Policy to Control Hikes –Ayariga tells government. The leader of the APC has asked Ghana government to institute price control to check the rapid rising in local commodities.
There were few commodities he listed which are all produced locally but their prices have tripled. He believes the businessmen and women across the country are giving the government and the country tough times.
Mr Ayariga wouldn’t understand why produces like banana, wasa wasa, koko, palm oil, cassava and many others are increasing at that rate.
He reiterated the fact that the exchange rate hasn’t been favourable of late but these commodities are produced locally and have no correlation with the dollar. As a result, calling on the government to step up its game and put in place price control policy to check this situation.
Here is what he said, “Prices of foodstuffs such as local bananas, pawpaw, coconut, salt, okra, fura, wassa wassa have gone up astronomically in the market”
“Even when all these items are all grown in Ghana, those commodities prices have been doubled in the markets and we still blame the dollar”
“Ghanaian traders and businessmen are making life unbearable for fellow Ghanaians. Government should institute a price guarantee and control system to control prices of goods and services in the system” – Mr Alhassan Ayariga said.
