Now let’s delve into it. Sexually transmitted Diseases, as the name implies, are diseases which are contracted through sexual intercourse with an infected person.

This is normally gotten when one has unprotected sexual intercourse with someone who has the disease.

Some examples of STDs include: candidiasis, gonorrhoea, HIV/AIDS, chlamydia, etc.

How can one get STDs.

  • Through unprotected Sexual intercourse
  • Indiscriminate sex
  • Peer pressure influence
  • Buy not living a chaste life (not abstaining from premarital sex)
  • Curiosity; the desire of wanting to know.

Effects of STDs

The following are some effects of STDs,

  • Untreated STDs can lead to infertility
  • Loss of weight resulting from severe health effects
  • It causes low economic productivity
  • Not enjoying one’s marital home in the future

How do you prevent yourself from getting STDs

  • By abstaining from sexual related activities
  • Through sex education. Adolescent, especially needs to be given education about their reproductive health.
  • By being faithful to your partner
  • By having protected sex
