2023 Budget: Trust the Minority; We’ll do a good job at committee level– Haruna Idrisu to Ghanaians
Following the approval of the 2023 budget presented by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, many have questioned the credibility of the minority in parliament. But the Minority Leader in Ghana’s parliament has this to say to Ghanaians.
According to the Minority leader, Hon Haruna Idrisu, without approving the 2023 budget as presented by the finance minister the consequences would be dire.
He went ahead to canvas for the trust of the populace and the citizens know that they (minority in parliament) will not let them down.

Speaking in a press conference today on the grounds of parliament, leader indicated that, the budget will be securitized very well to ensure that, citizens are not burdened with worrisome taxes.
He acknowledged for the fact that, they supported with the approval process, but the minority MPs on the finance committee are going to put in their best and question every spending in the budget.
In the same encounter with the press, Hon Ato Forson indicates the displeasure of the NDC following the increment of the Value Added Tax by 2.5 percent.
According to him, this is not the right time to burden Ghanaians. At the time where prices of goods and services have tripled, the increment as spelt out in the 2023 budget should be scrapped and that they’ll put in all efforts to ensure that it sees not the light of the day.
In expanding his argument, Hon Ato Forson said that NDC is a social democrat party and they believe in taxation. But taxes which are going to put pressure citizens won’t be tolerated. They only will only support taxes which are deemed to be progressive.
