How You Can Write WASSCE Even In SHS 2 If You Just Finished BECE – Tips for Success

The West African Secondary School Certificate Examination is medium through which learners at the various senior high schools across Ghana use to gain admission into higher academic institution. You can sit for this exam even in your second year if you are a serious student. This article will take you through some tips you can adopt to write your WASSCE exams in form two instead of form three.

If you have just finished with your BECE, then this is actually for you. You don’t need to go in for extra classes as you can do it yourself with the tips I am going to show you.

Now let us begin to look at some means through which we can adopt a student in order to write the WASSCE exams in our second year. While this will not only reduce the years you spend in the Senior High school but also a fast track to getting into higher institutions of learning in Ghana and across the globe.

Tips for writing WASSCE in Form two If You have just completed your BECE

• One thing you have to note is that, the subjects you are going to do at the senior high is not anything different from what you did at the JHS level. I am talking about the core subjects – Mathematics, English language, Integrated Science and Social Studies.  The core subjects are what many usually find it difficult in passing, so
• Since these are still fresh in your mind, I will encourage you to not look sight of them. Continue revising the core subjects, this will keep you abreast with them. Note that in the senior high there will be few additions but the majority are what you have already done in you JHS level.
• Once you get into the SHS, you only have to add the ones your teachers will be adding to the ones you already have. You don’t have to start all over since you know them. So, I will advise you constantly revise your core subjects.
• Get a Senior friend, who is either in Year two or three and ask them person to take you through some of the things they are learning. This has to be the elective subjects. The electives are easy to pass so with those help from your seniors who you have chosen as study friends will be of great importance.
• While in the third term of your first year, get past questions on all the core subjects and start familiarizing yourself with how the questions are set and its patterns. Seek clarifications from your respective subject teachers if you come across any concept you are finding it difficult to understand as that will be an added advantage in inching you closer to success.  

I tell you, if you are able to do these as explained above you can write your WASSCE in form two by registering for the Private WASSCE which is the same as the school WASSCE. The Private WASSCE, normally called NOVDEC can equally take you to the university or any higher institution of learning.
