Final Year Studying Tips for Students

  • The first thing to do is know the number of subjects you are writing the exams on. This is not to say you do not know what you have been studying for years. Go ahead and list them down and grade yourself in each of them based on your current performance. Glad you are following…
  • In each of the subjects, it lists the topics that you are going to study for the upcoming examination. How can you do this? This is where your past questions come in handy. Scan through your past questions and take notice of the topics which have not been dropped in the last three years. Consider monitoring the trends of the objectives test as those questions used in the objectives have the tendency of appearing in the written part of the exam.
  • If you don’t have any past questions, just select two-thirds of the topics in each of the subjects. For example, if you have 20 topics on a subject, you select about 12 of them and lay your attention on them.
  • Now that you have done the above, it is time to draw out your timetable by giving a lot of attention to subjects you have difficulties with. This is not to say you should not pay attention to others. At this point, try as much as possible to seek help on those subjects so that your studies don’t become tedious ones.
  • Along the line, once you have captured half of the topics you have selected for each subject, consider laying your hands on some sample questions. I advise you to use the questions that are found in your pamphlets of textbooks as the start, then proceed to solving past questions.
  • Challenge your colleagues by setting up your own questions and asking them to solve them. This gives you more ideas on how to tackle that very question and if they are not able to solve it, work it out for them. This increases your chances of consolidating what you have studied.
  • Less than three months to the exams, give a lot of attention to solving past questions, by which time you should have covered more than 80 percent of the topics in each subject. Make sure to value self-care and take a lot of sleep after a long day’s studies.

Note that, this final year, studying tips are tried and tested and anyone who has applied them in their studies never gets disappointed.

Thanks for having come along, I know you will apply the tips outlined above and rest assured; success will be your option.
