2023 BECE Withheld Results: WAEC Sets Deadline for Release
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that it will release the withheld results of candidates who sat for this year’s national examination once the on-going investigation into cases of examination malpractice is concluded.

The decision to cancel and withhold the results of some candidates was approved by the Examiners Appointment Committee on November 6, 2023. Candidates whose results are still withheld after an abnormal period may be called to the WAEC office to make a statement concerning the examination malpractice.
The release of suspended results may take varying periods, depending on the severity of the malpractice. The provisional BECE results for 2023 revealed that the subject results of 180 Junior High School candidates and 4 private candidates have been withheld for suspected offences, and the entire results of 110 school candidates and 2 private candidates have also been withheld. In any case, candidates who have had their results withheld should check in a week or two weeks time.
A total of 600,900 candidates from 18,993 public and private Junior High Schools across the country entered the examination, including candidates with special educational needs. Additionally, the BECE for Private Candidates recorded a total entry figure of 1,839 candidates, with 61 candidates being absent.
How to check BECE School and Private results
1 Visit the https://eresults.waecgh.org
- Enter your 2022 BECE Index Number.
- Re-enter the Index Number to confirm it is correct
- Select Examination type (BECE)
- Enter Examination year (2023)
- Enter the Serial Number on the result checking voucher
- Enter the PIN on the result checking voucher
- Tick the ‘I am not a robot’ box and
- Click on Submit and wait for the display in the popup window. This may take several minutes but it’s worth the wait
